Pinned Image

Mmm there is just something about this time of year. Now that Thanksgiving is over and we are coming upon December, it is lovely to think of Christmas being ever so close.
As I sit by a cozy fire with a cup of hot chocolate in hand, Michael Buble singing a "White Christmas".
Ahhh it's here.
We may not have the ideal life (at Christmas or any time of the year) that we dream of. I don't have the amazing and handsome husband, 2.5 kids and house with a white picket fence. You may not have the perfect job, the family life, an ideal apartment, or the funds to buy the gifts and decoration you would love to purchase. I am reminding myself every day this season, to embrace with a full and open heart, what IS in front of me. And looking for ways to give to others, to make someone else's day brighter, and to take what I have and bless someone else.

"...Jesus Himself said, 'It is more blessed to give than receive.'"
-Acts 20:35

Once again, I believe the little things can make all the difference.

With that said, Christmas gives us girls an excuse to decorate with a little more glitter than we usually would, make a homemade wreath, bake some yummy sugar cookies, and write some Christmas cards to those we cherish. Just want to share some of my latest Christmas inspirations:
{this little number has popped up all over the internet - love the gorgeous tulle}

{Merry Mistletoe Candle from Bath and Body Works}

{lovely little glitter bird candles}

{coloful candy in glass jars}

via Pottery Barn
{monogrammed velvet tree skirt}

{beautiful monogrammed Christmas door}
{glittery Steve Madden heels sparkle for parties}

{ornament & monogram wreath - i want to make this!}

{i love a Lily Christmas :) - can't get enough Palm Beach pink & green}

{a dress like this for the fabulous party}

What are you current Christmas inspirations?

enjoy it.

As I flew down the highway the other day, running late with my hair on fire and one eye open (not really but seriously, don't do well in the mornings!) I heard "You Gonna Fly" by Keith Urban on country radio. Country music is so close to my heart, such a fan. And I've gotta say that since that rushed morning when I first heard Keith croon those lyrics, it's been the #1 song on Erin's hit list.

It's one of those songs that does something to me. Ya know what I mean? Something rises in us.

That something is hope. It may not be said blatantly in a song. It may just be how the melody makes you feel. But sometimes, there's that song that gives you the courage to keep going, keep running, keeping flying. Am I the only one so inspired by music?

Things may seem dark today, but keeping hoping.. the best is yet to come.

"love...always protects, always trusts,
always hopes, and always perseveres.
love never fails."
-1 corinthians 13

You better believe. You gonna fly!

 I heard the above song lyrics other day.
What a fitting reminder.

As women, we sometimes (ok, often!) carry the weight of the world on our shoulders.
I don't know what yours is... maybe it's looking for a job,
 bills stacking up a mile high,
strained relationships with your sister,
trying to find your destiny & calling,
the heartache of a relationship with a man you love...
simply the loneliness of not yet meeting"him".
I understand the feeling of not knowing where you are going,
what all this is coming to,
or what's next.

What a sweet and simple reminder to trust God with it all.
"Cast your anxiety upon Him for He cares for you."
-1 Peter 5:7.

I found this on Pinterest the other day, what a good reminder from the Bible
of the kind of women we can be:

via pinterest (from Proverbs 31)

It's sweet to remember,

"It's all part of a grander plan
that is come true."

Happy monday, loves!

As I sit fireside, sipping a cup of Chai tea and sniffling (fighting a nasty cold and cough that I can't seem to get rid of), the family sitting around the room on big chairs under down throws as they flip through the channels on tv - from Hallmark Christmas movies  to Black Friday news- I am realizing how thankful I am for the littlest things. Yes, I am of course forever grateful for the big ones..the ones people commonly reference at Thanksgiving dinner like, my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, my sweet family, dearest friends, and (as my precious friend of mine told me yesterday, she is thankful for "a place to live and a car that drives.")

I am thankful for the small things.

Thankful for  little things like hot chocolate with tiny marshmallows, freshly laundered sheets, Christmas lights, my little leather Bible, candles that smell like sugar, handwritten letters in the mail, fall football, reading the Psalms, Keith Urban's songs, a new shade of Essie nail polish, a long phone chat with a kindred spirit, mornings and new beginnings, second chances.

Reminded to not only enjoy the small things, but to be faithful in the little things.
“One who is faithful in a very little is also faithful in much, and one who is dishonest in a very little is also dishonest in much."
{Luke 16:10}

And of course, reminded that I cannot do these things in my own strength but only through the grace of God.
 happy weekend, loves.

Psalm 100
A psalm. For giving grateful praise.
  Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth.
  Worship the LORD with gladness;
come before him with joyful songs.
Know that the LORD is God.
It is he who made us, and we are his;
we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.
 Enter his gates with thanksgiving
and his courts with praise;
give thanks to him and praise his name.
For the LORD is good and his love endures forever;
his faithfulness continues through all generations."

Yesterday's birthday began with coffee, pink cake pops, and chatting with my mom, and it ended with a sweet dinner date at Outback with my sister and my new brother in law. Yet, before my feet hit the floor in the morning, I was honestly debating whether to embrace the new year in thankfulness or give in to my inkling desire to fall into a ball on the floor and cry over the things I want & don't have at this age, the plans I had made and the things that haven't worked out according to my little plan A.
But how can I help but be thankful for all the Lord has done this year? To be transparent with you, it was the hardest year of my life so far. Full of ups, downs, some failures, disappointments, and learning how to get back up, be strong and keeping my chin up....Thankful ever more for GRACE. Thankful that I've found through the chaff and wheat, who my truest friends are. And what gems they are.
A special thanks to my dear friend Lisa for posting on my blog yesterday, what a precious friend, I am thankful. Go check out her lovely blog, Like Rain. Inspirations - inspires me every day!
Thankful for another year & praying that in whatever the Lord has for me this year, I honor him.

Today I am linking up with: Captivated By The Beauty Of Grace for a weekly "what i wore" series on wednesdays. Who doesn't love an excuse to put cute outfits together? Join up too!

'Tis the season for hot drinks. And what is second-best to coffee?? Chocolate! Hot chocolate on a wintery day is one of my favorite things. But, I've found that the packaged "add hot water" mixes that are typically used are too watery & weak. So, I've been on the search for the perfect hot chocolate recipe and found a great one here. I modified it a bit, & the finished product is AMAZING! Rich, creamy, sweet, & perfect. Ideal for the holidays!

Ingredients & Directions:
{serves 2}
{Pour 2 1/2 cups milk {I used soymilk, prefer the light vanilla-flavored} into a saucepan}
{Add 4 tablespoons white sugar}

{3 tablespoons of cocoa powder}

{I used the unsweetened Trader Joe's brand in a cute little container}

{Add 1/2 teaspoon of bring out the flavor}

{Add 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 pinch ground cinnamon
1 pinch cayenne pepper
(yes, sounds odd but brings out flavor wonderfully)}

{Allow to simmer,
whisk until frothy}

{Serve immeditely}

Can be served as a dessert, as it's fairly rich.
{I also added mini marshmallows to mine}

Enjoy fireside.
Or better, bon-fireside (is that a word?)
PS- On a sidenote, how lovely is this little gem of a candle?!

hi girls!

welcome to my new blog, sweetness itself.

{i was previously at, which is now my Shoppe/Etsy store}

i wish i could invite you into my little home: sweet candles burning, cookies on a small blue plate on the table, all of us wearing our comfiest sweatpants-- i would hand you a cup of coffee (with your favorite creamer), & we would sit around on cozy couches for a girl's night in, laughing til we cry, crying for real, & chatting about, guy trouble, the lord, disappointments, dreams.

 may this little blog be a picture of that. (maybe we wouldn't have ever met if it weren't for the internet opening doors.) may it be a peek into my life as i try to live for jesus, & fail often, yet get up and keep running. life as young women in our world is a fight. but i believe, together we are strong & we're gonna fly.

my prayer is that sweetness itself creates a sisterhood that is encouraging, edifying, exciting, & eternal.

here's to loving this beautiful, crazy thing we call life!

join me?
