the girl behind the blog - vlog!

Hey girls!!

SO excited to be linking up again for The Girl Behind The Blog.
I've met such awesome women through these link-ups!
The topic is really fun - favorite beauty products! I just shared one with you guys -
it's a beauty secret that I just LOVE and you have to try!!

5ohwifey

BTW, isn't 5ohwifey's baby the cutest in the pic above?! Go link up and join the fun :)

Oh, and sorry about the kind of long crash & burn ending ha! (and for how it seems like I'm being paid to do a commercial for this product haha!)  Here's to vlogs in al their glory - including the FACT that YouTube must purposefully select the worst capture image for the screen shot...anyone else think so too?!)

Hugs to you and love!

  1. Cute vlog! I love your hair, and your accent! :)

I totally agree with you about Youtube deliberately choosing weird and awkward facial expressions for screenshots! My vlogs always end up making me look like I am a crazy person too, who is about to try to eat the camera!

I KNEW your beauty product was going to be coconut oil, as soon as you started introducing it! I use it on my hair too, and agree that it is totally amazing. I use it slightly differently to you though, since my hair is shorter and very curly. I use (a tiny bit of!) it on my hair when it is wet, as like, a leave-in conditioner type thing. :D

  2. I am a crazy obsessed coconut oil user too! I always make diy beauty treatments and coconut oil makes an appearance all the time! I use the same Trader Joes kind, too :)

  3. I have a jar myself, but I'm only used it for cooking. I'm going to have to try it on my feet for sure!

  4. I actually bought some coconut oil for a DIY lipbalm project a couple months ago but I haven't tried it for a beauty product yet! I will have to! Although it's packed in a box right now and I have no idea where it is... i'll find it when i unpack i suppose and put it to good use! :)

  10. You're so cute! You always look so chipper in your videos. Love that about you :) my mom uses coconut oil ALL the time to cook with instead of butter. She is dairy free and substitutes this for butter on bread, in recipes, etc!
Do you know if it helps with break-outs?

  14. Coconut is some of the best stuff out there for us!
If you have problems with acne, rinse your face off with water and apply the oil - it will help. I've seen it work MIRACLES!
Also, it is wonderful to cook with, but i know folks who don't like coconut so they prefer to use other methods.
If you or your child is allergic or sensitive to dairy, coconut oil is a good alternative to butter.
It has lots and lots of heart healthy fats - cause contrary to popular belief, we DO need fat in our diet :)
You can buy it in big tubs, too...which cost more, but last a LONG time!

  15. Now I need to try it! I bought some months ago and it's been sitting in my pantry because I wasn't quite sure where to start with it. I'm definitely going to try the hair treatment idea. Sounds amazing. I actually bought it to cook with because they say it's really good if you are breastfeeding or pregnant, but I never actually used it while breastfeeding. Oh well! Next time I guess. Thanks for all the tips :)

p.s. You're hair is gorgeous. If I could have long hair like yours I'd grow it out.

  23. YESSS!
hahahaha I am seriously obsessed with coconut oil!
I use mine from time to time for my hair, but my favorite use is as makeup remover. It works better than any expensive/pro kind I've tried and doesn't hurt my eyes & apparently is good for the eyeleashes. (like you said). Love it!

I used to put coconut oil with some salt ontop on toast to replace butter. It's SO good. Kind of like tropical butter. But then I realized that it has a ton of saturated fat, so I stopped. But it is delicious!

    Love your vlog erin!

  27. I just got some coconut oil - I needed it for a recipe for making deodorant. So far it's working great - and I even put it to the test catering a wedding this weekend. Not stinky afterwards - haha! I've been using it to moisturize the delicate skin around my eyes. I have sensitive skin and had eczema around my eyes when I was little. It flairs up a little in the spring and fall sometimes, but this appears to be keeping it at bay! YAY!

  28. I am so excite to try this! I was planning on goin to trader joes today anyways, but now I'm definitely stopping there! And I'm going to get some for my mom. She has major problems with dry feet! Thanks for sharing, you're so pretty and sweet! =)
