How I love sailing, and how I grew up taking sailing trips from time to time with my family.
My dad has his sailing license, and our family loves the wide open sea.
Living in Southern California, I have several special memories of taking off into the Pacific Ocean & letting our sails fly free.
There's nothing like sailing on the open sea.
It's enchanting.
But sometimes, the waves get rocky.
And that's scary.
Because you are out there - in the middle of the deep, wide vastness and you are vulnerable.
You have to trust your captain even though the wind may whip wildly, the waves crash all around you - rocky, wild waves.
That's how life feels sometimes.
Free and beautiful and wide open, some days.
And others? Dark and lonely, with rocky waves crashing all around.
I am thankful, in those scary moments, we have this truth to lean on.
I am leaning on it tonight.
Jesus said,
"Peace I leave with you;
my peace I give you.
I do not give to you as the world gives.
Do not let your hearts be troubled
and
do not be afraid."
-John 14:27
Goodnight, sweet friends.

Needed this tonight! I have spent several hours today reading Piper's "Seeing and Savoring Jesus Christ"....Reflecting in who He is, the victory and joy and life I have in Him, and the great plan of God in alllll that is.
ReplyDeleteThen, just a few moments ago. A door closed, something happened, and I was tempted to worry. To doubt. To fear.
Then, I opened up my feed and your post was first. Reminding me again that in God is all I need. Christ is better than anything here. I need Him. I need nothing else.
His peace, His joy, His life is mine as I know Him and am forgiven.
Thanks!
wonderful words, thank you.

ReplyDeletethere are two things that are inevitable in this world. That's death and change and you can't do nothing about it. Learn to embrace and accept reality for you can't escape from it.
