i heart chicago.

Hi sweet friends!

I hope & pray your week is going wonderfully. So...this is long overdue. But, the other day I was sitting at Starbucks working on my laptop, trying my best to ignore the high school student who sat next to me and kept trying to strike up a conversation (yes, when he hit on me I had to tell him no... as I was 10 years older than him - do I really look that young?) Anyway, I suddenly began to hear dear old Frank Sinatra (my favorite) belting out "Chicago, Chicago.. my kinda town...." and it hit me - I haven't yet shared with you, my dear readers, my Chicago pictures and experience!

I'm not a huge city girl. I love the country and small towns best. But Chicago really surprised me and I fell for it. Not in a "I could move there" type of way. But definitely in a "I have a major crush on the city" type of way. It was charming, beautiful, so sparkling clean, and the food was amazing. Especially my favorite night of the trip - our visit to RPM Italian (For those of you who don't know, Bill and Giuliana Rancic's very own restaraunt!!) And since I am such a fan, my thoughtful friends willingly tried it out - it was amazefest USA. Delicious and classy - you gotta try it if you ever visit Chicago.

I made a fun little video instead of sharing all my pictures here - thought it would be a fun and inspiring way of showing you Chicago, through the lens of my perspective.

PS -

I promise I am still working on my little surprise for you! It's coming in a few days. And since it's been way long than I said, here's a teaser: the goal is to encourage you... and it may or may not include me singing! ;)

  1. LOVE this!! Miss you SO much girl!! =(
And AHHHH you have me all excited if youre going to be singing in your surprise ;) ;)
    I love your voice!
    Much Love!

  2. i love Chicago! such a wonderful city, so full of life.

  3. Yeah, you do actually look pretty young.... Don't you just love it when you're stuck with high school guys that you are sure are just there to pick up chicks? Not. haha. I was at a pet store a few days ago with my lil' bros, (I know, odd place for guys to be hitting on you, but okay...) and man alive, the guy was just going for it. Definitely not afraid to make it obvious that he was trying to pick me up. *shakes head* Little did he know I was probably 5 or so years younger than him. Ouch.

It looks like you had a fabulous time!! I would love to go there sometime. Definitely on my wish list.

And ohh, yes, please sing. I am a singer too, and I would just LOVE LOVE LOVE to hear you sing.

  4. Thanks so much for visiting my blog. I love your about me and what God is doing through you to encourage and challenge young women. I will be pointing those I love your way.

On another note, I love watching Giuliana and Bill and how fun that you got to visit the restaurant! God bless...

  5. my only Chicago experience was having to use the bathroom really badly on a road trip and not finding one! It did look lovely, though...
Going back further in your posts, I saw your pix of Santa Monica at Christmas and they made me homesick! I used to live in West LA and did most of my Christmas shopping at that mall and the 3rd Street Promenade. Thank you for a small dose of home!

  6. Haven't been able to watch the video yet, but I'll come back and do so later. But when I saw the note about you singing, I squealed! I have been wanting to hear you sing since I first started reading your blog!! :) Soooo excited!

p.s. there's an email coming your way soon, I promise! ;)

sweet friends, share your heart.
